While Frederick II of Prussia was defeating the Allies at Rossbach in Saxony, an Austrian army under Prince Charles of Lorraine and Marshal Leopold von Daun advanced into Silesia and, after victory at Moys and Schweidnitz, routed and captured Duke August Wilhelm of Bevern near Breslau (modern Wroclaw). Breslau was retaken by Prussia two weeks later after Leuthen.
