After being overthrown by his uncle Yuri Dimitrievich (who died soon afterwards), Grand Prince Vasili II of Moscow returned to oust his cousin Vasili Kosoi, who was defeated at the River Kotorosl (1435). In a second, decisive defeat at Skoriatino, near Rostov, Kosoi was captured and later blinded. Vasili ruled again until 1445, when he was defeated and captured by the Mongols at Suzdal.
