A large-scale rebellion against Henry IV of England saw Sir Henry Percy (Hotspur) and Scots under Archibald Earl of Douglas enter Cheshire against Henry, Prince of Wales. At Hateley Field, near Shrewsbury, they instead encountered the King and his full army. Douglas was captured and Hotspur was killed. His father the Earl of Northumberland fought on until 1408 at Bramham Moor.
