When President Joaquin Crespo fraudently secured election of his successor, Ignacio Andrade, General Jose Manuel Hernandez began the "Revolution of Queipa". In action at Mata Carmelera, in Cojedes, Crespo was shot and killed, though Hernandez was later defeated and captured by General Ramóin Guerra (12 June). Andrade was overthrown the following year after Tocuyito.
