The Prussian-British army of Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick responded to a new French offensive towards Hanover by meeting Louis-Nicolas Felix Comte du Muy at Warburg, northwest of Kassel. Supported by British cavalry under John Manners Marquis of Granby, Duke Ferdinand routed the French and drove them back to the Rhine, where they made a stand at Kloster-Kamp.
