Two years after the rout at Sempach, a fresh force under Albert III of Austria invaded Glarus in Switzerland and was ambushed in a steep mountain pass above Nafels. As at Morgarten 75 years earlier, the outnumbered Swiss rolled boulders down on the invaders before attacking and destroying them. A subsequent truce recognised Swiss independence within the German Empire.
