Rebels under Jack Cade defeated Royalist forces at Sevenoaks and killed several officials in London before being forced to withdraw. A fresh advance was blocked with heavy losses at London Bridge by a large force under Thomas Lord Scales, Governor of the Tower (Scales’ Lieutenant Sir Matthew Gough was killed). Cade and other ringleaders were hunted down and executed.
