Following the conquest of French Canada, a British force of 26,000 men under Admiral Sir James Douglas and General Andrew Lord Rollo sailed against Dominica. After heavy naval gunfire destroyed the French positions, the island fell in just two days and Rollo went to support the attack on Martinique. At the war’s end Britain retained possession of Dominica.
