Filippo Maria Visconti Duke of Milan defended the city of Cremona, against attack by a large Venetian-Florentine army under Francesco Bussone Count Carmagnola. A day-long battle at the nearby pass of Casaal-Secco saw the Milanese led by Agnolo della Pergola cut down by Allied crossbowmen. Despite heavy losses on both sides, it was a bloody victory for Carmagnola.
